Inspired by the third world cinema classic La hora de los hornos (Fernando Solanas, 1968), left-wing documentary filmmakers Jarl and Lindqvist started to shoot a revolutionary epic on the state of Sweden in 1968. The project failed, due to financial problems, but in 1974 they made the short film Förvandla Sverige [Transform Sweden] out of the filmed material.
