Tehachapi, Kern County, California; on June 5, 2019, mother Wendy Howard shoots and kills her ex-husband, Kelly Pitts. Wendy had learned that Pitts had inappropriately abused her 16-year-old daughter Bayley. Wendy maintains that she acted in self-defense when Pitts drove toward her on a quad tractor. It is now three years later and Wendy's jury trial is beginning. Wendy's daughter, Bayley Frost, is now age 19 and will testify in her mother's defense. Wendy's criminal defense attorney is Tony V. Lidgett of Bakersfield, California. After the proceedings, Judge Charles Brehmer declares a mistrial. Six months later, Wendy accepts a plea bargain from the Prosecutor and pleads guilty to voluntary manslaughter in exchange for \"time served\" and \"one year probation\".
