芒野（奥田瑛二 饰）是一名纽扣制造商，经济大萧条令芒野破了产，在50岁的人生转折点上，他失去了一切。绝望的芒野决定在北国的茫茫大雪里结束自己失败的一生，于是带着最后的积蓄来到了位于北方的月冈镇，在那里，芒野意外的邂逅了名为萌子（笛木优子 饰）的24岁女孩。 萌子是一名艺伎 ，她的烂漫和天真深深的打动了芒野，芒野决定将自己的全部财产都给她后再自尽，聪明的萌子察觉到了芒野的打算，于是她展现出了无限的温柔，锲而不舍的温暖着芒野的内心。在萌子的努力下，芒野渐渐对人生有了新的期望，与此同时他意外的发现，萌子亦并非表面看上去的那么阳光快乐。
